The Biased Bollywood Autobiographies
"Jab tak hindustan me cinema hai log Chutiye bante rahenge"
Something's terribly wrong with the entertainment industry these days.
The consciousness, responsibility and sensitivity towards society that a filmmaker or the artists have to bear in minds is seen fading out nowadays.
Being a writer when one writes something one has to be careful enough to check the influence of writings(content)on the masses, especially the kids, teenagers, youths who are more susceptible to the influence of writing and mass media.
Accordingly the same sense of awareness must be adopted by the people in entertainment line like producers, writers, actors etc.
Gone are the days when the cinema used to be the entertainment tool only. Now along with the emerging content based movies as well the biopics(exclusively of worth people) the cinema has also became the source of infotainment. If any filmmaker after going through lot of research, efforts, sleepless nights makes a content based movie and serve us then positive mature response to his work from the masses really matters a lot.Being an audience if I perceive his work only as an entertainment sipping the cold drink and gulping the popcorns without trying to explore the message conveyed, then somewhere the efforts filmmaker had put in might land in vain.
Also Focussing on the other side of public perception, what most people do is that they misinterpret the subject being served, it's like a conflict between what makers want us to see and how we see it.
Coming to the kind of work thrown in the face of audience these days, I don't understand what they really want to imprint on the minds of young India.
They showcase the actress masturbating, they reveal what no of times the actor had sex with different women(safety ke liye hum public ne 350 maan liya), his addictions, his criminal links, etc.
Though we appreciate the honesty of transparently expressing the dark side of one's life, doesn't mean we'll like it, doesn't mean we'll blindly follow it. Neither we expect the future generation to admire it.
I think the bollywood's idea of biopic is not clear or they've misinterpreted it or what.
All they do is pick some social figure with some(or deep)criminal background, then try proving throughout the entire cinema how genuine the person was, how innocently he got stuck or trapped and try cleaning his maligned stigmatized image before masses.
To name the few, pick the movie AZHAR, where you'll come to know that former cricketer azaruddin did not actually succumbed to the bookies or fixers, he took the amount only to ensure that the fixers won't offer and trap any other player.
Similarly They've tried their hands in improving the image of gangsters in the movies like SHOOTOUT AT WADALA, DADDY, HASEENA PARKAR, etc.
As I mentioned before, their idea of biopic is not clear. This can be seen when you watch 3 item numbers in SHOOTOUT AT WADALA(a biopic).
Ok,for a while let's not take into account the perception of adult people because of the stable and mature mindset they have, but what about the influence of these content on kids, teenagers, youngsters?
How would you guarantee(as a filmmaker) that they won't imitate what being featured on screens?
It won't affect their minds at all?
Let me put it to the readers more simply. When we watch the emotional movies we break in tears, watching the comic scenes we laugh our heart out, when we witness some social or patriotic drama we experience the goosebumps, then how do u think the above mentioned content won't affect us in any way?
Well,it does. But to the kids and teenagers in large number, as they are more vulnerable and susceptible to the impact of media content.
It's a request as a common masses to the dear filmmakers please be careful and aware about your work henceforth as we have a new budding generation to nurture with good thoughts and inculcate in them some ethics.
We common masses still search for the remote controller or leave the place when encounters suddenly the sexual content while sitting with the parents, cause we are not like karan johar who can openly crack the vulgar and filthiest jokes in some stupid roast show in front of own mother.
